Dental Extractions
Nobody wants to lose a tooth—it’s a tough moment, and it’s normal to feel anxious or uncertain. But when a tooth needs to come out due to decay, gum disease, crowding, or trauma, our goal is to make the process as smooth, gentle, and comfortable as possible—for both your body and your peace of mind.
As an oral surgeon, Dr. McGann has spent his entire career focused on surgical procedures like tooth extractions. Since 2008, he’s removed thousands of teeth, and through that experience, he’s refined a technique that is less traumatic, more efficient, and far more comfortable than traditional methods.

Advantages of Choosing Dr. McGann For Tooth Extractions
Specialized Training & Experience
Oral surgeons complete several additional years of rigorous surgical training after dental school. Dr. McGann completed a 4 year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC. This gives him extensive experience in managing extractions, impacted wisdom teeth, broken teeth, teeth that have previously had a root canal or teeth near nerves and sinuses. Dr. McGann has refined and crafted his technique since 2008 as he’s focused his practice on the removal of teeth.
Eight hours of our day are spent doing extractions and other surgeries versus a general dentist who handles a variety of dental needs, not focusing on a single specialty. Think of your dentist as your primary care physician who sends you to the cardiologist or dermatologist when you need heart and skin care.
Safety & Complication Management
Because of his advanced surgical background, Dr. McGann is better equipped to anticipate, prevent, and manage potential complications such as excessive bleeding, a broken root, an infection, or nerve involvement.
Anesthesia & Comfort Options
Unlike most general dentists, Dr. McGann is licensed to administer IV sedation and general anesthesia. This allows patients to undergo extractions in a more relaxed, pain-free state, this is especially important for anxious patients or complex surgical cases.
Faster Recovery & Better Outcomes
With Dr. McGann’s specialized skills, surgical techniques, and wide array of instruments, he often performs extractions more quickly and efficiently, minimizing trauma to the surrounding tissues. Because extractions are routinely performed, these procedures become muscle memory to surgeons. This usually results in less pain, swelling, and faster healing.
Care for Complex Medical Cases
Patients with certain health conditions (such as heart problems, bleeding disorders, or medications that affect healing) benefit from the higher level of surgical and medical expertise that Dr. McGann can provide.
