Summertime Snooze
What Does Obstructive Sleep Apnea Look Like?
A daytime nap on a long, summer day is a beautiful thing. However, too many naps can be a red flag. Why? Well, daytime sleepiness can be a sign of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a serious condition that can lead to heart and other health problems.
While there are a number of risk factors associated with OSA, a recent study from the University of Wisconsin-Madison* suggests that America’s widening waistline is in part responsible for the increasing rates of OSA. Among other data, the authors estimate that 10% of men between the ages of 30 and 49, and 17% of men between the ages of 50 and 70 show symptoms of OSA.
June is Men’s Health Month. If a man in your life is snoozing a little too much during the lazy days of summer, get him into McGann Facial Design for a consultation.
