Team at McGann Facial Design…
May Your Holiday Season be Stress-Free!
The holiday season seems to get busier and busier every year with events and celebrations that can spread more than holiday cheer. The whirlwind of holiday events can raise stress levels…but did you know that stress can lead to a variety of health (including oral health) problems?
Studies have shown that gum disease and bruxism (tooth grinding) may be linked to high levels of stress. Being anxious can cause your body to produce more of the hormone cortisol, which can contribute to the risk for gum disease. People who grind their teeth tend to grind their teeth more when under stress. Grinding can wear and chip teeth and put pressure on jaw muscles and joints. And as you know, stressful times can sometimes lead to bad-for-your-teeth habits like smoking, drinking alcohol, and skipping nightly brushing and flossing.
Follow these tips to keep your mouth, and your whole self, healthy and stress-free during the holidays…and all year long.
~ Eat a well-balanced diet.
~ Get enough sleep.
~ Exercise on a regular basis.
~ Practice relaxation techniques.
~ Brush and floss daily.
Happy Holidays from all of us here at McGann Facial Design. Enjoy the holiday season…may it be stress free!
